Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
– making dreams come true since 1970
Royal Caribbean International has been at the forefront of cruising innovation for more than 40 years, and has brought cruise holidays to within the reach of the regular man-in-the-street. The company was founded in 1968 and their first ship, Song of Norway took to the seas in 1970. Since then the company has come a long way! Their ships have been getting larger and larger, more modern and innovative than many of their competitors, and today they have approximately a 17% share of the world cruise market. The Brand, which also includes Celebrity and Azamara Cruises, is based in Miami, but offers cruise itineraries to all part of the world. Royal Caribbean now have more than 21 ships in 6 different classes out on the high seas and truly offer options for everyone. The Cruise line has a Loyalty program which offers returning clients several perks, and the proof is in the pudding…the satisfied customers just keep on coming back year after year!
What to expect on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner?
The smallest vessels in the Sovereign Class do have fewer amenities on board, and generally appeal more to those who prefer a more intimate cruising experience. At the other end of the scale are the incredible Oasis and Allure of the Seas, currently the largest in the fleet, but soon to be overtaken by the Quantum of the Seas, due to launch in 2014. These floating villages which can carry 6000 passengers and over 2000 crew have all the facilities you find on the smaller ships, such as a Gym, Spa, Indoor Pools, Theatre and Cinema, Casino and Putt-putt, but in addition they have truly pushed the limits by adding features such as Rock Climbing Walls, Shopping promenades, Wave pools for surfing and Ice Rinks large enough to stage ice shows! Quantum of the Seas will even have an outdoor amphitheatre and a Dreamworks experience, with 3D movies, for the children.
In between these two extremes are all the other mid-sized vessels in the fleet in the Voyager and Radiance Classes which offer an incredible cruising experience that will satisfy most tastes, with quicker and easier boarding and disembarking (fewer people!) and greater access to smaller harbours which means they have a wider selection of ports of call.
Staterooms and Dining with Royal Caribbean Cruises
Regardless of whether you choose a top-end suite (with private butler service!) or an inside stateroom you can be assured that it will be comfortably appointed with all you need to make your cruise a memorable experience. The Oasis class has a central promenade, and you can choose a stateroom facing the promenade so that you never miss a moment of the action. All the classes offer a formal dining room, a self-service buffet restaurant and at least one or two speciality restaurants where you can have a really special meal experience for a nominal surcharge. There are coffee shops, pizza parlours, hamburger huts and sushi bars on the larger vessels and simply no end to the food options available literally 24 hours a day, including room service. Royal Caribbean really provides an upmarket cruise experience with great service, excellent food and drink choices and some of the best entertainment on the high seas at very competitive prices, and if you are free to jump aboard at short notice you can find some amazing cruise bargains with this cruise line.
