Sharm el Sheikh

Cruises from Dubai in the Middle East

Hot and sultry Dubai stands as the showcase for the UAE (United Arab Emirates) and the place most people think of when the Emirates are mentioned.  The city of Dubai rises like a mirage from the desert sands of the Arabian Peninsula and is an exotic mecca for shoppers and anyone who would like a taste of Arabia.  But Dubai is just one of the UAE; there are several more cities, sights and deserts to explore and Dubai cruises are an excellent way of seeing some of the vibrancy of the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.

Cruise Lines offering Cruises from Dubai:

MSC have two cruises from Dubai:  the first is a 7 day Dubai cruise calling on the glamorous resort of Abu Dhabi (capital of the UAE), Khor al Fakkan, Muscat and Khasab before returning to Dubai.  On this cruise from Dubai you will get to see how the ultra-rich live – Abu Dhabi is known as the richest city in the world and epitomizes luxury.  At Khor al Fakkan there are wonderful beaches and excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities, while the ancient city of Muscat (Oman) has many interesting places to visit.

The second Dubai cruise with MSC offers a 14 day in-depth look at the Middle East on their “Grand Arabian” fly/cruise and actually consists of two back-to-back cruises with a flight segment. You board your Cruise Ship in Dubai and the first seven days follows the route described above.  On your return to Dubai you then fly to Sharm el Sheikh where you board your ship for the second 7 night cruise around Egypt, Jordan and Israel.  This cruise gives plenty of opportunities for some pretty amazing sight-seeing in Petra, a UNESCO world heritage site where you can visit the excavations of the ancient city which was literally carved out of the rock.  In addition, all the ports along the way offer really superior marine life, lovely warm water and almost guaranteed sun-shine!

A couple of other cruise lines also call on Dubai as part of their repositioning cruises from Europe to the East and you can join the Cruise Ship in Dubai;  P&O and Princess Cruises are examples.  On these itineraries you would cruise from Dubai, through the Suez canal (via several ports in Egypt) and then continue through the Mediterranean to Southampton.
